Are bloggers 'legitmate' members of the media?

This should be interesting. Apple, one of the most successful new media-friendly companies out there, is arguing that bloggers aren't legitmate members of the media:
Should online journalists receive the same rights as traditional reporters?

Apple claims they should not. Its lawyers say in court documents that Web scribes are not "legitimate members of the press" when they reveal details about forthcoming products that the company would prefer to keep confidential.
The decision is surely to cause much controversy regardless of the outcome. Here's pulling for blogs. It would certainly set a huge precident.

Blackberry Blogging

Testing, testing. Is this thing on? I guess I'll find out later on. The ability to blog from a phone or Blackberry is pretty cool. I know, this is sooo 2004.

But I suspect as high speed wireless networks become more pervasive we'll see more real-time blogging. This especially goes for experiential things - you see a celebrity, get really bad service in a store, etc. I love the idea. Kind of like an instant review from the field.

I mean, why waste time on hold with customer service when you can feed the blogosphere (BTW, there's got to be a better name than blogosphere) and maybe make a much greater impact, and maybe even effect change! Companies tend to have better hearing when people muse publicly.
